Production Company: Mill+
Role: Designer (Concept Development & Style Frames)

Our Mill+ team had the pleasure of pitching on FX's Tyrant: Season 2 Teasers. My overall concept was to use light & shadows as a literal metaphor for the contrast between the two brother’s current / future environments, with the use of traditional recognizable Middle Eastern shapes & light play.

- Light & Shadows -
Beautiful cinematography finds our eldest brother Jamal sitting in an abstracted Palatial setting. Elegant patterns are shadowed onto the side of his face from the light that shines through the palace window. The pattern lines thicken and Jamal’s environment darkens as his expression turns from a confident leader to a scouring tyrant.

We then reveal that Bassam in a much darker abstracted space with only a few pockets of light. Within the light rays we see dust particles fly around the dirty air. The narrow shadows that mask his face indicate that he is in a prison. Suddenly the bars slide away from his face and the lighting changes drastically. Bassam gets up to explore his new strange new environment. We see him engulfed in sunlight as he exits his now open prison door.
